World Cotton Day is observed annually on 7 October to highlight the importance of cotton and its contribution to livelihoods, economic development, international trade and poverty alleviation. The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 7 October as World Cotton Day in August 2021. The day provides an opportunity to raise awareness about the cotton sector, recognize the contribution of cotton farmers and workers, and promote a more sustainable and resilient cotton value chain. Cotton is an important natural fibre and a major source of income and employment for millions of people around the world. World Cotton Day also encourages greater attention to innovation, sustainability, inclusive economic growth and the challenges faced by cotton-producing communities. FAOHome Publicity Poster can be used to create informative agriculture posters, awareness creatives, farmer-focused designs and social media posts for the occasion.
