World Sight Day is a global awareness day focused on the importance of eye health, vision care and access to eye-care services. It is observed annually on the second Thursday of October, making the date change from year to year. The occasion encourages people to pay attention to their vision, promote regular eye examinations and raise awareness about preventable vision impairment and blindness. It also highlights the importance of accessible and affordable eye-care services for communities around the world. The 2026 observance falls on 8 October 2026. The day provides an opportunity for healthcare organizations, eye-care professionals, schools, communities and social organizations to conduct awareness activities and encourage people to take better care of their eyes.
