World Teachers’ Day is observed annually on 5 October to celebrate teachers worldwide and recognise their vital role in education and society. The day commemorates the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which established international benchmarks for teachers’ rights, responsibilities, preparation, recruitment, employment and working conditions. UNESCO has observed World Teachers’ Day since 1994 in partnership with the International Labour Organization, UNICEF and Education International. In 2026, the occasion marks the 60th anniversary of the 1966 Recommendation and carries the theme “Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing its status and shaping our futures.” UNESCO The day highlights the importance of valuing, supporting and strengthening the teaching profession. Publicity Poster can be used to create Teachers’ Day greeting posters, appreciation creatives, school announcements and social media posts.
