International Day of Older Persons is observed every year on 1 October to recognise the contributions, rights, dignity and well-being of older people around the world. The United Nations General Assembly designated 1 October as the observance in 1990 through Resolution 45/106. In 2026, the United Nations theme is “The Age of Longevity: Rethinking Systems for Longer Lives,” highlighting the opportunities and challenges created by increasing longevity and the need for systems that support dignity, security, participation, healthcare, social protection and lifelong learning. The day also encourages greater intergenerational understanding and recognition of the knowledge and experience of older persons. Publicity Poster can help create meaningful awareness posters, greeting creatives and social media designs promoting respect, dignity and appreciation for senior citizens.
